Saor release Caledonia – five early songs re-recorded from scratch

Scottish atmospheric black metal project Saor released Caledonia on November 6, 2026, through Season of Mist. This is not an album of new compositions or a remaster: Andy Marshall re-recorded five songs originally heard on Roots, Aura and Guardians.

The five tracks are Aura MMXXVI, The Awakening MMXXVI, Carved in Stone MMXXVI, Hearth MMXXVI and Tears of a Nation MMXXVI. Running for roughly 51 minutes, the record retains Saor’s blend of atmospheric black metal and Scottish folk instruments while giving the arrangements entirely new performances and recordings.

Chris Fielding produced, mixed and mastered the record. Carlos Vivas contributed drums, Ella Zlotos provided vocals, whistles and uilleann pipes, and Àngela Moya Serrat played violin. The cover artwork is by Anaïs Chareyre-Méjan.

Caledonia is available on Saor’s official Bandcamp. Season of Mist also premiered a complete album stream and offers CD and double-vinyl editions, presenting the early material as it sounds after years of live development.
