In a HardLore podcast interview (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET), Kenny Hickey confirmed Type O Negative were offered "one show for a lot of money," but said logistics and missing key members make a tribute unlikely for now.
According to Blabbermouth.
In a new HardLore podcast interview, as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET, former Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey said the surviving members have been approached about staging a Peter Steele tribute and that they were offered "one show for a lot of money," but that doing only one concert isn't feasible.
Hickey listed the logistical hurdles: getting the band back together, relearning the material, building a visual production and finding a singer who can perform Steele's parts "with taste" while handling the demanding bass work – he said plainly, "Nobody can play bass like him."
The interview notes former keyboardist Josh Silver has so far been unwilling to commit; Hickey attributes that to Silver's other commitments, including time spent working as a New York City paramedic, and describes Silver as an "all or nothing" member.
For context, Type O Negative effectively ended after Peter Steele died in April 2010. The source also references the band's breakthrough album "Bloody Kisses" (1993) and other discography points as background to the discussion.
