Elize Ryd says Amaranthe have booked drum recording with Danish producer Jacob Hansen ("in two and a half weeks" in her words) and that the new album will lean toward a Gothenburg metal sound; she also confirmed Mikael Sehlin on growls.
According to Blabbermouth.
In an interview with Finland's Chaoszine, Elize Ryd said Amaranthe have booked drum recording with longtime collaborator, Danish producer Jacob Hansen; she added the session is due to begin "in two and a half weeks," and described that drums will be recorded first, followed by instruments and vocals.
Ryd described the new material as a return to a "back-to-the-roots Gothenburg metal sound" and confirmed this will be the second Amaranthe album to feature Mikael Sehlin on growls. She said most of the material is already done but did not provide a release date.
Ryd also recounted how Sehlin joined the band: they met while touring with ENGEL in 2015 (she recalled European and U.S. legs), and Olof Mörck later asked Sehlin to add growls to a few demos for The Catalyst – an approach that worked because his growling style resembles Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson's.
The interview lines up with the band's recent output: in February 2026 Amaranthe released the single and official video for "Chaos Theory" (video directed by Jens De Vos of Panda Productions), and the song was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen; the band had already been performing "Chaos Theory" during the European "Arcane Dimensions" tour with Epica.
