San Francisco thrash veterans DEATH ANGEL have released the single 'The Never Was' and an official lyric visualizer; the release lists production credits and coincides with the band's announced touring plans for Europe and Australia.
According to Blabbermouth.
DEATH ANGEL have released a new single, “The Never Was,” accompanied by an official lyric visualizer; the drop coincides with the band’s announced international touring plans across Europe and Australia and their year‑end holiday shows.
Vocalist Mark Osegueda frames the song as a reaction to public self‑absorption and labels it “angry music,” saying the lyrics were inspired by actual self‑centered people. The press text also notes Osegueda likened the track’s attitude to that of a well‑known pop song as a point of reference.
The lyric visualizer features original drawings and video production by Tamara Llenas of Aimed & Framed, and single artwork was created by Mark Richards. Blabbermouth’s item describes the song as delivering the speed, precision and aggression long associated with the band.
Background details in the release note DEATH ANGEL formed in Daly City, California in 1982. The current lineup – Mark Osegueda, Rob Cavestany, Ted Aguilar, Damien Sisson and Will Carroll – has remained together for nearly two decades. The new single follows two standalone 2025 releases, “Wrath (Bring Fire)” and “Cult Of The Used,” and the band’s Act III 35th‑anniversary tour is noted to continue into 2026 and 2027.
