Polish black metallers Behemoth brought Dimmu Borgir frontman Shagrath onstage to perform their cover of Venom’s "In League With Satan" live for the first time. The debut happened on October 9 in Zurich, kicking off the co-headline European tour.
According to ThePRP.
At Halle 622 in Zurich on October 9, Behemoth took their studio cover of Venom’s «In League With Satan» to the stage for the first time, inviting Dimmu Borgir frontman Shagrath to guest on the live rendition. The song appears on Behemoth’s recently released album «I, Scvlptor», issued this past September.
According to the band’s account of the studio sessions, the track was recorded with Shagrath as a guest and tracked on seven-string guitars, which the group says gave the cover additional weight and a new dimension. The live debut follows that studio collaboration.
Live debut of Venom cover
The performance gained added resonance in the wake of Venom vocalist/bassist Conrad «Cronos» Lant’s death less than two weeks before the Zurich show. The live premiere also served as the opening night of the co-headlining European/UK tour titled «In League With Satan».
The run lists several upcoming stops, including Milan’s Alcatraz on 10/13, Munich’s Zenith on 10/14, Paris Zenith on 10/16 and London’s O2 Academy Brixton on 10/17. The shows will continue to spotlight material from «I, Scvlptor» and the onstage partnership between the two bands.
